Long ago in the days of yore
A story that now is no more than lore
Began at the center of Hogwarts, here
Behind these doors that you open, doors that you fear.
It's lasted till now
Despite endless attempts
to obtain forgiveness,
forget contempt.
So here in the room,
Tonight, before all
Your true colors show
As you're placed where you belong.
Whether it be with the Slytherins
Who in the dungeon reside,
Sneaky and determined,
cunning and snide.
Or with the Ravenclaws
Intelligence unseen
By any outside
There book lover's reach.
Of perhaps Hufflepuff
Is where you belong
Loyal and true
Heart ever strong.
Or at last, beloved Gryffindor.
Bravery above all.
Sly and Smart
Always answering the call.
No matter which House
You join here this night
You will always be
Hogwarts united.
